Black Powder Matters

Black Powder Pistol shooting has been part of the Clubs’ activities for a number of years but until recently had not been formally acknowledged by the Committee as a recognised discipline. However, with the steady growth in numbers of Club Members taking up this form of shooting it was decided that a Committee Member should be appointed to handle all Black Powder issues. The position was duly filled by Dave McCombie at the Club AGM in April 2002.

What can the Club provide for its’ Black Powder Shooters?
Training

For a Member wishing to experience this form of shooting for the first time training will be provided. As there are currently no Club owned b/p pistols the Committee Member for b/p shooting has agreed to make available his pistols and also head the training sessions. If the b/p Committee Member is unavailable a designated stand-in will assume the training role.

Range Shoots
Shoreditch TE

There is a designated b/p shoot held at Shoreditch once a week, however, when required a further shoot(s) can be arranged. The Range can accommodate up to three b/p pistol shooters in it’s newly constructed bays The bay area also boasts three wooden fold-down tables on which the b/p shooters charge their firearms.

Apart from the Shoreditch Range the Club also holds a number of b/p shoots throughout the year at Bisley and are shot over a distance of 50 metres.
